Introduction

Arrow 24 Hour Kayak Leg

Back in 1996 we delivered New Zealand's inaugural 24 Hour Adventure Race. The idea was for a few mates to do a bit of training for the Southern Traverse. Now, a few years on, we have developed a series of events for people wanting more challenge, more adventure and less speed! The Arrow International 24 Hour Adventure Series is about teams sharing experiences while venturing into the unknown. A non-stop adventure race for two and four person teams, open and mixed, as well as relay teams who navigate their way through a secret pre-set course.

Core disciplines: Include trekking, mountain biking, navigating and kayaking. Fastest and slowest times to complete the event are expected to take 15 to 24 hours respectively. All activities are of an intermediate level and no certificates or qualifications are required to enter. Competitors must however have a moderate level of fitness and have some experience in each discipline.

The courses:are kept secret up to the event briefing. Once the course is disclosed teams must map their own route to include all checkpoints and transitions to complete the course. All team members must remain together at all times.

Support crews:
Don't forget, behind every great team there is a fantastic, well organised support crew who are vital to your success. Each team is responsible for the organisation of their own kayaks and bikes. This includes getting kayaks and bikes to and from the transition points, moving gear, food and drink and providing the all-important moral support. We can forward you to kayak and bike hire companies if required.

Registration: Teams are required to register on the Friday evening prior to the event. Teams will be required to show all compulsory equipment and complete administration formalities. Registration will include the race briefing and the release of the course.

Prizegiving: is held at noon on the Sunday of the event weekend. A light lunch is provided for all competitors with additional tickets available to be purchased for support crews and friends.

Compulsory and team equipment is required and can vary depending on the event entered. So "Dare to Be Challenged"
